jon and i have been married for 8 years. yes, we have passed the 7 year itch and yes alot of our friends and acquaintances feel strongly that we should have children. why?

a) life will be boring without them
b) they will look after you when you grow old
c) you have a goal in life

we totally respect our friends, relatives and acquaintances who have children. we don't want to have children because

i) we are overgrown kids
ii) we can barely look after ourselves
iii) we do not like crying babies
iv) we do not know how to reply to questions such as "how do children come to this world", "why is it papa can lie and i cannot"

some believe that we are just selfish. we just want to enjoy life and do not want to have 'grown up' responsibilities.

more reasons why we do not want to have children

1) we are DINKS (dual income no kids)
2) we want to travel the world without worrying about children, education, health etc etc
3) we have 6 nephews (both families), 1 niece and one grand niece and nephew (tony and tracy, the twins rock!) we have sort of became surrogate parents to them. we don't need to have our own kids
4) we do not believe children will support their parents when the parents grow old. just look at the number of old folks in singapore without financial support from their children
5) we do not believe in the education system
6) we are not planning to buying a house/apartment/flat in singapore
7) not having children is our business not yours, thank you.

we know that having children in usa will help to expedite our green card application but that is not the route we are taking. we want to grow old, happy, silly and senile together.
