new orleans
I visited New Oreans in 2002 to attend the Virus Bulletin conference.

During that conference week, when i first touched down, i just managed to avoid the upcoming Hurricane Isadore. After i reached the hotel, the alert was toned down to a tropical storm, thought that in itself managed to keep the conference attendees stuck in the hotel for almost the whole week.

On the final day before departure, we finally had a chance to get out of the hotel, and my memories of the city was of a very warm and friendly place.

Hurricane Katrina is causing so much problems now that it really saddens me. I found out that there is a large coordinated effort by the company to support the rescue operations.

Sharon is thinking of doing some donations, and we'll most probably be using the dollar matching programme to double the donations.
