I found an amazing site on mind mapping and critical thinking. Each of their blog post is more than 5 pages long!
I came onto this site as i was redoing my research on the 6 thinking hats by Edward De Bono. I think i read this book many years ago, and found it pretty useful. The long list of references and mind maps are definitely useful for everyone.
Without sounding too boastful, i think a combination of the tips i learnt from that book, mind mapping, and the great precision questioning training i got when i first joined the Singapore operations created the never-ending asking monster in me 8). Folks here sometimes wonder how/why the heck i can think of scenarios that they do not. Blame it on De Bono + Tony Buzan + whoever the trainer was for the PQ training!
I also came about this short post on Herding Cats, with regards to systems and opinions on systems. Glen quoted John Gall's book and his principle concept:
I also agree with Glen's own insight that malfunction and total nonfunctioning in a complex system may not be detected for long period of time, especially if there was malicious intent to fake functioning behavior.
Hi, Jonathan, I teach PQ for Vervago. I am so glad the workshop was so beneficial for you--I am guessing either Dennis Matthies or Felix Tsai was your instructor. I wanted to let you know we have a LinkedIn "alumni" group; if you'd like to be part of it, send me an email so I can invite you. The framing of the workshop has changed a great deal since you took it (although the core PQ and PA skills are the same), and I could send you some information about that, too. My email address is bob@vervago.com.
I have taught PQ in Singapore twice, and it is one of my favorite cities.
