praying at the altar of process
A colleague (i dont know him) is about to leave the company.
His mail was forwarded to a discussion group for improvements and i was nodding to every single point in the mail as i read through it.
Praying at the altar of process is definitely a disease throughout. Instead of looking at the goal, layers and layers of perceivably unnecessary processes are padded to the already exhausting process.
Sigh.
Is this a possible reason why we're slow to response? Perhaps. I'm always on the fence on this though.
I dont like the addition of steps or the adherence to the processes, but i know their value, especially now in the post S-OX compliance world. Does that mean i have to like it?
No.
