Unskilled and Unaware of It:
This is quite applicable to some of the folks that i've talked about recently, being unskilled and unaware of It: "How Difficulties in Recognizing One's Own Incompetence Lead to Inflated Self-Assessments".

Presumably we need to have reasonably accurate information about ourselves to deal effectively with other people and to regulate ourselves. We must also know something about our deficiencies in order to grow.

When someone doesn't know that they have deficiencies, and do not realise it, that is the worst scenario. Knowing about deficiencies but not doing any thing about it consciously is slightly better, in the sense that on a subconscious level, you will be mindful of your own weaknesses.

"He who knows others is learned; He who knows himself is wise."
---Lao-Tzu, Tao-te Ching

PS: while researching for the correct quote to use, i found this a delightful site.

The audition clips in American Idol is testament to the prevalance of such people! :-)
